Jeffrey Weisslitz, PsyD, LPC
Psychotherapist
Jeff has a wide-ranging breadth of experience doing individual and group psychotherapy with many different populations. He began his career at Summit Oaks Hospital where he worked with children, adolescents, adults, and elderly clients. He spent over 7 years there, ending up focusing his work on mental health and addicted clients. While pursuing his doctorate in clinical psychology, he completed an externship at the Rutgers College Counseling Center where he worked with college students and spent two years at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York City where he received psychoanalytic training and supervision in individual psychodynamic psychotherapy.
Jeff received his doctorate from Yeshiva University following his internship at the Bronx VA Hospital, both fully accredited by the APA (American Psychology Association). Over the past 5 ½ years, Jeff has worked at Princeton House Behavioral Health in Hamilton, first running a large evening addiction program, and for the last 3 years as the Adult Clinical Coordinator. As Coordinator he oversees the several adult outpatient programs at the site and supervises 10 clinicians. Jeff currently is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has a permit to practice psychology in NJ. He is working towards gaining independent licensure as a clinical psychologist.
Jeff’s dissertation focused on integrating modern trauma theories with the subjective experience of addiction. By using client interviews, he was able to directly tap into each individual’s personal experiences and highlight common themes and issues. His approach to therapy centers around tapping into the unique, personal perspective of the individual, while drawing upon Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Self Psychology to facilitate the client’s journey towards insight and self enhancement.
