Psychiatric Medication Evaluation
Village Counseling Services employs a nationally certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides Psycho-Diagnostic Testing and Psychiatric Medication Evaluation.
Nurse practitioners, also known as advanced practice nurses (APNs), are nationally certified registered nurses (RNs) with specialty training in health promotion and education, health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment of common health problems. More than 100,000 NPs now practice in the United States.
Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) have graduate nursing degrees and special training in neurobiology, psychotherapy, and psychiatric and mental health care. They are licensed to prescribe medication, order labs, and coordinate treatment plans. They are also trained in advanced physical assessment and medical referral.
PMHNPs collaborate with physicians to diagnose and treat health problems and concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse and addiction, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and developmental and stress disorders.
